Residency: Discipleship and Evangelism, Southern Mexico Indigenous

Description

Disciple new believers and help them reach their neighbors. After less than a year in this location, people are already coming to Christ. You will help new believers grow in their faith and evangelize their lost neighbors. Model for them how to use talents, interests, and experiences to build relationships with the lost in order to share the gospel with them. In addition, you will disciple missionary kids (ages 9-15), making a lasting impact in their lives.

We want to mentor you not only as a missionary but as a follower of Christ so that this may be a semester when you grow in your love for the Lord and for people. The Mixtec people are one of the largest unreached people groups in the Americas. Less than 1% are believing Christians. They are ensnared by a blend of folk Catholicism and traditional witchcraft, yet the Lord is at work. People are responding to the gospel! Come let God use you to impact lostness among the Mixtec of Mexico.

Other Requirements

Residency – An opportunity to serve on mission for one or two semesters while being mentored by an IMB field missionary. Active members of Southern Baptist churches receive a subsidy, which includes travel to/from Orientation/Debrief at ILC, room and board at Orientation/Debrief, travel to/from the field and emergency insurance. There is no subsidy for applicants who are not members of a Southern Baptist Church. All monies raised or donated in excess of the stated cost of this particular Residency trip will be used to offset the additional, subsidized field cost expenditure for the student. These monies may also be used to supplement the broader cost of ministry related to the Residency program, in general. Application deadlines: Fall Residency trips: deadline to apply is May 1. Spring Residency trips: deadline to apply is October 1.
