On the surface, Taiwan appears to be affluent, prosperous, and technologically advanced. But if you go a bit deeper, you will find a nation that is also struggling with idol worship, intense social pressure, and much lostness. While there is an appearance of religious freedom, deep ancestral traditions and Buddhism have a stronghold among the majority of the Taiwanese. However, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is very much at work in displaying the power to save to the millions of people who live on this beautiful island. You will be working to establish a college ministry at one of the main college campuses in Taichung city. We desire to see these college students not only hear of the light of Christ but also be saved by the Gospel as many collegians are facing pressure that has caused depression and anxiety. We also hope to serve you by providing other opportunities to serve in a variety of contexts. Whether it is meeting with other local churches, other believers, or community ministries, we desire to introduce and give you opportunities for a many exciting experiences. Lastly, we desire for your love His Word and for Christ to deepen your walk with Him and mature you through your time on the island. Through intentional evangelism, discipleship, and service, we are praying God will bless you with a deeper knowledge of Him and a genuine experience of His grace.
Residency – An opportunity to serve on mission for one or two semesters while being mentored by an IMB field missionary. Active members of Southern Baptist churches receive a subsidy, which includes travel to/from Orientation/Debrief at ILC, room and board at Orientation/Debrief, travel to/from the field and emergency insurance. There is no subsidy for applicants who are not members of a Southern Baptist Church. All monies raised or donated in excess of the stated cost of this particular Residency trip will be used to offset the additional, subsidized field cost expenditure for the student. These monies may also be used to supplement the broader cost of ministry related to the Residency program, in general. Application deadlines: Fall Residency trips: deadline to apply is May 1. Spring Residency trips: deadline to apply is October 1.
