The ancient town of Hallstatt in Austria’s Salzkammergut Lake District. It is one of the most famous villages in Austria. It’s also one of the most Instagrammed places on earth. It is one of the oldest inhabited areas of Europe because of the large salt mines. They have dated settlements back to around 1200 B.C.

Hallstatt is a UNESCO world heritage site. The region of Salzkammergut and the area’s salt mines were in use as early as the second millennium B.C. Salzkammergut, which includes Hallstatt, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.

The quaint village, situated on Lake Hallstatt’s western shore in the mountainous region of Salzkammergut, is home to fewer than 1,000 inhabitants, an ancient salt mine, and unparalleled views of the Austrian Alps.
