Modern-day ez-Zeifah is currently referred to as the “Wilderness of Ziph” in Scripture. David fled to the Wilderness of Ziph when Saul was pursuing him. This is also the area where Saul built a monument to commemorate his victory over the Amalekites in the book of I Samuel.
