Yawo of Northern Mozambique

(YAH-oo) - At the end of April, there was a Missions Conference in the northwestern province of Mozambique that was initiated by a local pastor, Pastor August. The goal of the conference was to encourage all members of the provincial churches to have the vision of planting healthy churches in that province and beyond. Please pray that the Word that was taught at the conference will continue to burn within the hearts of all those who attended. Ask God to bring about unity of the Spirit among both leaders and lay members. Pray that many will be called to go and plant healthy, biblical churches and that God will prepare the way for this to happen.

What does sharing the gospel cross-culturally look like to a local Tanzanian Baptist church? Even though a local church has members who are from five or six different people groups, sharing cross-culturally still requires preparation. Assessing needs that they could meet both physically and spiritually required members of two Baptist churches in Arusha, Tanzania, to plan and prepare for several months before they were ready to go to their Maasai neighbors not too far away by road. They had helped to start a church in the area they were going to and had seen the needs firsthand. They collected funds and used clothing for several months; they met to get evangelism training; the church prayed; and those willing to volunteer for an overnight trip made plans to be off work. Nine members made the three-hour journey and shared with these Maasai neighbors both physically and through the Word of God. They worshiped together; they prayed together; they went out into the village together to share the gospel with their neighbors. Two members even remained in the village to share in the Sunday morning worship and also on the following Monday. Pray for much fruit to come from this gospel-sharing cross-cultural trip!

Workers write: "Please pray for our team. This year, we have several team members in fulltime language learning, members serving in two different cities, South Asian co-laborers who serve also, and we are expecting transitions as people's roles and locations change. Please pray for grace in transition and for unity and fruitfulness in the task. Ask that we will, as Romans 15:5-6 (ESV) says, 'live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together [we] may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.'"

Please pray for two individuals of an unreached people group (UPG). Pray for Mira, a 9-year-old girl, who is refusing to go to school. Pray for emotional and spiritual healing, for her to know the love of Jesus, and for her to happily go to school. Please pray for Mark who is suffering from major depression to be healed. Pray for wise, mature believers to be sources of encouragement and hope to these hurting people. And pray for the Christian community to be Jesus' hands and feet to them, showing His agape love to them. Please pray for God to work and move in a special way in these two individuals and their families.

(ker-MAHN-gee) - Pray for perseverance, patience, and contentment in language learning, discipleship, and leadership development among Kurmanji Kurds in the midst of constant political and economic change in the country where they live. Pray for some mature believers as they seek to train up elder candidates for leadership roles in the Kurmanji Kurdish church. Pray for wisdom in choosing the right men and in knowing the best way to equip them.

Basotho of Lesotho and South Africa

(BAH-soo-too) - Missionaries Jake and Ginger Goss, who serve in the capital city of Lesotho, request prayer for the Baptist pastors in Maseru. Pray that the shepherds of the churches in Maseru will put aside differences, seek forgiveness, and work together for the good of God's kingdom. Ask that they will humble themselves, overcome past challenges, and unite for the common goal of leading the Basotho people to a deep, rooted relationship with Christ that produces disciples and, ultimately, healthy churches. Pray that they will not allow the evil one to have any influence over their ministries. "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive" (Colossians 3:12-13 ESV).

Pray for the local evangelical church in one city to "catch the vision" that each member is a fulltime follower of Christ and a proclaimer of the glory of God among their family, workplace, community, and beyond. Pray for all pastors and church leadership in the city to cast such a vision and lead their flocks by example by being bold, multiplying disciples among other groups in the city.

Lord, the Butuo Nosu people work hard as farmers in the mountains and enjoy competitions with their livestock, but very few know the joy only You can bring. We pray the gospel will go forth throughout the mountains until every Butuo Nosu village has access to the good news of Jesus. Draw their hearts to You, bring many into Your kingdom, then send them out with joy to tell others this beautiful message. "You will indeed go out with joy and be peacefully guided; the mountains and the hills will break into singing before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands" (Isaiah 55:12 CSB).

"Pray with us for the 317 unreached people groups (UPGs) among Chinese and Mongolian peoples. Specifically, please intercede for the salvation of the Zuojiang Zhuang people. The 1.7 million people living in rural southwest China, have no translation of the Bible in their language, no "JESUS" film, and no radio broadcasts where they can hear the gospel. There are only a few believers among them. The first Protestant missionary to the Zhuang was R. H. Graves, a Southern Baptist, who arrived in China in 1862. Little has changed since this 1922 report, describing the Zhuang region: 'There are 58 cities, 700 market towns, and over 17,000 villages, all teeming with human lives for whom no [gospel] effort whatever is being put forth.'"
