Windhoek, Namibia

(VIN-took) - "Our local Windhoek church, New Song Family Church, has just completed our annual month of praying and fasting," writes Team Namibia. "We saw some prayers miraculously answered, but at the same time, we also witnessed some situations grow worse as we prayed. We are asking God to help us to remain faithful in our praying. Join us in praying that our trust in Him will not waiver even when we cannot see Him working in ways that we expect related to things that concern us."

Theological Education in Malawi

"Please ask God to call someone to come and serve on our Malawi Team either as a long-term or mid-term career missionary ministering alongside Malawian partners in leadership development and theological education. While it's true that lostness is the greatest need in all the world, the lack of biblical literacy is crippling the efforts to reach this lost world. There are so many false gospels and teachings, lying prophets and 'bishops,' and unqualified and unbiblical leaders infiltrating the church in Malawi. Theological education and leadership development is an answer to this massive problem. Please pray that God will send the right man or couple to teach with us alongside Malawian partners all over Malawi to train the current and next generation of Malawian church leaders."

(OO-tar pra-DESH) - Continue to pray for the Bijnor district and the faithful brothers in Christ who live there. Ask that these brothers will find encouragement from doing the work that the Lord has called them to do. Pray that they will press on in ministry with joy. As they continue to work throughout Bijnor, pray that many people will come to faith and become leaders who can labor alongside them so that the Good News can go forward in that area.

Luke is a believer from the Outer Rim People. He has a passion for the Word of God and for his people to have access to God's Word in their heart language. Luke has spent many years helping translate the whole Bible into his language. Last year, the translation was finished, and there are now beautiful copies of the Bible in Luke's heart language. Luke and other believers have been traveling to Buddhist monasteries to give copies of this Bible to their libraries and to explain the message of the Bible. The Buddhist monks have been glad to receive them. Ask for God to work mightily through His Word and pray that many monks would read the Bibles they have been given. Ask that they would come to faith as a result.

Iraq borders Syria, and when there is a problem at home, Iraqis will cross the border into that neighboring country. A great number arrived in Syria in 1990 with the advent of the first Gulf War, and there has been a steady stream back and forth ever since. In the beginning, the wealthy came to Damascus and other cities, spending money and renting or even buying property. Syrians welcomed them. Others came later with very little to offer except their need for help. In the strained war economy of Syria today, their presence has created tension. Pray that the Iraqi Arabs will have shelter, food, clothing, and the resources to pay for it all. Some Iraqi Arabs in Syria are from the ancient Christian background, but the majority are either Shia Muslims or Sunni Muslims. Pray for each of them to hear of the freedom they can have in salvation through Christ. Pray that this message will spread from the rich Iraqi Arabs in their homes to the poor in the refugee camps, from the few children who can afford to go to school to the many who have had no education. Pray for the Iraqi Arabs to have hope.

Naima, a North African woman, heard the gospel about seven months ago. She exchanged messages with a believer for a little while but then seemed to disappear. Recently, she contacted the believer with an extreme message, saying that she wanted to change her religion, her name, and her nationality. Her believing friend thought this seemed like a drastic reaction so set a time to meet to discover what was going on. After hearing more, her friend realized that although Naima was open to the gospel, she wanted to become a believer for wrong motives. As she explained, she had been mistreated by the people of her home country's religion and wanted to disassociate from them. The believer shared how to truly follow Jesus and encouraged Naima to read the Gospel of John and offered to meet with her to study the Word together. Please pray that Naima will have a desire to read the New Testament. Pray that as she reads the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit will open her eyes to understand the good news of salvation. Pray that she will repent and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and become a daughter of the Most High God.

Mebo of Laos

(MEE-boh) - Each month this year, we have been looking back at how God has been with the Mebo over the last decade of lifting them up in prayer. In 2018 we asked you to pray for two Mebo believers -- a pastor and a college student who had each been imprisoned after they were involved in separate car accidents. In both of these accidents, the other person involved did not survive. While in prison, the two shared the gospel with many other prisoners, and two prayed to receive Christ. The young college student bonded with the pastor who helped him get a scholarship to attend a Bible college in a nearby country after they were released. The young man returned to his home among the Mebo during COVID, got married, and is now preparing to go be sent to spread the gospel to the Mebo people. Pray for him and his wife as they prepare to enter the ministry. Pray that more of the Mebo will be convicted to bring the gospel to their nation. Thank you for your faithful prayers!

Kigoma Baptist Hospital, Tanzania

(kee-GOH-muh) - The Lake Tanganyika Basin Team writes: "On May 19 to June 4, our team will host a volunteer team of eight students from a Baptist university in California and a faculty member. They're coming to Kigoma to see how the healthcare education they're getting can be used on the mission field. Students will be doing screenings for hypertension and diabetes in a number of locations within Kigoma district in the mornings, followed by door-to-door evangelism alongside local church members in the afternoons. Additionally, all will have opportunities to shadow hospital staff at Kigoma Baptist Hospital so they can have a good picture of the challenges of serving in healthcare missions in a developing-world situation. Pray that their travel will go smoothly and that the supplies they are bringing will arrive along with them. Ask that the hearts of those they will serve will be open and ready to hear the truth of the gospel. Pray that each student will be bold in sharing their faith and that they will know clearly what God wants them to do with the education with which He has blessed them. Pray for the local church members to be ready to follow up with new believers."

Bulgarian Muslims (Pomaks) of Bulgaria

(POH-mahks) - "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30 ESV). Pray for Pomaks to come to Jesus, relinquish their pride of being strong enough to carry their own burdens, and humbly receive God's gift that they can never earn by their own efforts. Oh, for the faith of a child! Pray for simple trust and the willingness to turn over their burdens to God.

Border Kuna of Colombia

(KOO-nah) - Unfortunately, the door has closed to visiting the Border Kuna in their homes and communities due to an alarming increase in the number of illegal activities taking place. Pray for the Border Kuna to have their eyes opened to their need for salvation. May they see that the money they make trafficking illegally to Panama pales in comparison to knowing Christ and having a relationship with Him. Pray that God will allow the missionaries who are engaging them to find a different avenue to meet outside of the community or to focus their efforts on others in the area.

Pastor Santi gets so excited when it's baptism Sunday! The first time he had the opportunity to baptize three new believers, he called Andrew a couple times that morning excited like a kid on Christmas morning. Andrew and Pastor Santi had discipled those new believers for weeks, helping them understood more and more about the commitment of baptism. Recently, Pastor Santi and Andrew baptized six new believers. Some were teenagers being raised in Christian homes. Others came out of the grips of Buddhism, declaring Jesus is the only way! Local people who came to the river that day to swim had the opportunity to see these six make their faith public. The gospel levels believers. Nothing else on earth transcends race, class, and language. Pray for these six believers to be bold in declaring their faith, not only in the baptism river but also every day of their lives.
