World Refugee Day, June 20

As we focus on the plight of the world’s refugees, please join Southern Baptists in prayer. Pray that Christians will find ways to minister to refugees physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. Pray that refugees will seek and find a true hope that comes only through Jesus Christ. Pray for Christian workers on the frontlines of refugee and relief work around the world. Pray that more will give sacrificially to help the relief work being done by Southern Baptists. Through Christ, we offer more than food and critical supplies.

Statistics just released by UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) report record high global displacement of the world’s population for 2019. Last year, global displacement reached 79.5 million people. These represent people who had to leave their homes due to natural disasters, war, violence or economic devastation. This figure includes 3.6 million Venezuelans forced to leave due to the country’s economic collapse and government strife. More are left behind in Venezuela, struggling to survive. Let’s ask God how we can help, how we can pray and how we can love as He does.

Right now, refugees are facing new hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Desperate situations are becoming more dire each day. As we are reminded of some of the world’s most vulnerable, let’s ask God how we can help, how we can pray and how we can love as He does.
