The six believers were baptized in Fobur, Pateau State, at Fobur Baptist Church in Nigeria. Jobin Ezekiel, the assistant for Nasara Baptist Church in Zaria, Nigeria, reads his Bible. Ezekiel shared about the church’s history. Nasara is the only registered church in Zaria and was burned in an arson attack in 1987 and 1992. The church refers to itself as “the church that refuse to die.” Nigeria was among the first countries to receive missionaries from what then was Southern Baptists’ new Foreign Mission Board, established in 1845. Ruth Womack holds one of a set of twins staying at Kersey Children’s Home in Ogbomosho, Nigeria. When Ruth began working at Kersey in 1955, it was an orphanage. Over time, she changed the focus of the facility to offer nutrition training to those caring for motherless babies and parents of malnourished children. The goal: enable them to grow up healthy in their own homes and culture. By 1981 she was treating 300 babies a year.
